All volunteers at the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation agree to abide by these guidelines and policies while acting in their volunteer capacity.
Confidentiality of Information Policy
While volunteering with the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation, you may have access to confidential information. This information could relate to the operations of the Foundation, its participants, or donors. Knowledge of confidential information is a trust to be honored. All volunteers are expected to exercise the greatest caution in the protection of any information considered to be confidential by the Foundation or any of our participants or donors. Names of participants and donors are to be held in strict confidence by volunteers. If you are unsure about whether a piece of information is confidential, contact the staff person handling your volunteer program.
Eligibility
All individuals are eligible to apply to fill volunteer openings with the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation in accordance with the Foundations non-discrimination policy. Required skills and experience vary from position to position, but all applicants are required to support the Foundations mission: to help adults with cancer enjoy life. All applicants will undergo a screening interview to determine proper placement for the volunteer in relation to the Foundations needs.
Exit Interviews
Exit interviews are normally scheduled for outgoing volunteers after DPFCF receives a notice of resignation or for volunteers whose termination is initiated by DPFCF. The purpose of the exit interview is to provide an opportunity to discuss work-related experiences. Information gained through exit interviews assists the staff in evaluating working conditions, pointing out problems, and improving the volunteer program. Participation in an exit interview is voluntary but is highly encouraged.
Gifts
Employees and volunteers are prohibited from accepting money, gratuities, or gifts in excess of $25.00 in value from any person receiving benefits or services from Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation, or from any person or entity having or proposed to have a business relationship with Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation.
Leaves of Absence
At times it may be necessary for you to take a leave of absence from your duties as a volunteer with DPFCF. Please inform the appropriate staff person of the reason for your absence, start date, and length of absence expected. That staff person will keep in contact with you and at the end of the period determine whether you would like to become active again.
Non-Discrimination Policy
No person employed by the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation shall be appointed, promoted, demoted or removed, in any way favored, discriminated against, or harassed because of age, sex, gender, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, marital status, military status, sexual orientation, physical or mental disabilities, or because of religious opinions or affiliations.
Press Policy
Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation recognizes the importance of the press in creating public support and encourages attention from the media. We believe in utilizing the media to increase community awareness, promote special events, and recruit volunteers. We equally believe in maintaining the confidentiality of our participants.
To best facilitate an effective working relationship with the media, the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation uses specific spokespersons to address all media inquiries. If you are contacted by a member of the press while working in your role as a DPFCF volunteer, we ask that you refer him/her to the Executive Director. You may provide them with the Foundations phone number, address, and an agency brochure.
Reimbursements
Volunteers can be reimbursed for certain costs incurred while volunteering. Examples of expenses eligible for reimbursement associated with accompanying a DPFCF participant on an activity as a Rosebud Volunteer include tickets, parking, food, or video rentals. Other expenses associated with acting in another volunteer capacity such as parking or film development are also eligible for reimbursement.
To be reimbursed for volunteer-related expenses, fill out a DPFCF Reimbursement Form (available from any staff person) attach the appropriate receipt(s), and return the paperwork to the office within 30 days of incurring the expense. If you are unsure if a particular expense can be reimbursed, contact the office.
Resignation
If and when you are no longer able to fulfill your volunteer commitment, we ask the courtesy of formal notification. When possible, please give us notice so a replacement can be found.
Tax Deductions
You may be able to deduct some of the expenses you incur while volunteering for the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation if you itemize your personal income tax return. Click here for more information.
Termination
You can be terminated as a volunteer for gross negligence in the performance of volunteer duties. All complaints will be reviewed by the Executive Director. Any volunteer who has a complaint filed against him or her will have the opportunity to meet with the Executive Director regarding the complaint.
