To
enroll with the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation, a cancer patient
must meet all of these three criteria:
1. Be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrollment
2. Be living or receiving treatment in the state of Colorado
3. Be actively dealing with cancer (i.e. not in remission or
doing preventative treatments)
If you meet these three criteria, you are eligible to enroll. Just call
our office at 303-639-9110/1-800-347-4904 (within Colorado) between
9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and we will enroll you over
the phone. Enrolling takes approximately 10 minutes.
Cancer patients enrolled with the Foundation can enjoy one activity
each month for as long as they are actively dealing with cancer.
Frequently Asked Eligibility Questions
Q. Im pursuing non-traditional cancer treatments. Am I
still eligible?
A. You dont have to be doing chemotherapy or radiation
to enroll. Many of our program participants are using alternative forms
of therapy. You just have to be actively dealing with cancer (not in
remission).
Q. Do you have to be terminal to enroll?
A. No, you dont have to be terminal. Only about one-eighth
of our program participants have a terminal diagnosis.
Q. Can I enroll my relative/friend/significant other who is dealing
with cancer in your program as a surprise?
A. We know your heart is in the right place, but we dont
do surprises. The cancer patient in your life wont use our services
if they arent comfortable with the idea of enrolling. We are happy
to send you a brochure so you can encourage him or her to enroll with
us on their own.
Q. My relative/friend/significant other who is dealing with cancer
is unable to use the phone for long periods of time due to treatments
or other impairment. Can I enroll them somehow?
A. If you are an immediate family member (parent, sibling, significant
other, child) or sole caregiver, give us a call. As long as the cancer
patient wants to enroll, well work with you.
Q. I am a social worker or health care worker working directly
with adult cancer patients. Can I enroll one of my clients?
A. If the adult cancer patient has asked you to call on his or
her behalf and wants to enroll, well work with you.
Q. My oncologist has me taking Tamoxifen for the next 5 years.
Am I eligible?
A. Because Tamoxifen is a preventative drug designed to stop
cancer from recurring, you are not considered to be "actively dealing
with cancer" and are not eligible for our program (this is a good thing).
