About Us: History
Diana Price Fish died of ovarian cancer at the age of 40 in 1986. Near the end of her life, Diana talked about the joy she received from everyday things like holidays, friends, work, playing with her two dogs, music, and spending time with those she loved. Diana's close friend Felicia Diamond created the Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation in 1989.
After Diana's death Ms. Diamond began to think about how important the "little things in life" can be. A year later, a 31 year-old acquaintance and previous co-worker of Ms. Diamond's disclosed that she had brain cancer. As her illness progressed she expressed her desire to go to a concert. With the help of two friends, Ms. Diamond was able to get her to a concert. During this concert it occurred to Ms. Diamond that she could organize a group to provide access to those "little things in life" that can mean so much to someone dealing with cancer. The Diana Price-Fish Cancer Foundation is the result of Ms. Diamond's vision and determination.
Often we take many of the "little things in life" for granted until faced with a life threatening illness. The Foundation is dedicated to working with adults actively dealing with cancer including those not in treatment due to the nature of their cancer. We help to create opportunities for these individuals to enjoy life by providing access to everyday activities such as dining out, having a massage, attending a sporting event or going to a play.
